Mass and Confessions will continue on their normal schedules. Our 4:00 p.m. Saturday Mass will continue to be live-streamed each week via our YouTube page. If you watch it click subscribe and you will get the Mass automatically each week. We have been advised by the chancery office of the Diocese of Columbus to hold all meetings virtually, that is, by zoom or other portals to ensure safety. All studies, prayer groups, social/fellowship groups, and any other meetings and events will either move to a remote format or will be postponed until after the advisory is lifted. Building For Our Future Campaign Update It is with great joy that I can announce that construction has begun on our new education, office expansion wing. We’ve had classes in our hall since the beginning of this parish and in recent days we have had meetings in our day chapel because of lack of space. After I got unpacked last year when I was transferred to Ss Simon & Jude I saw the need for such an expansion and moved quickly to make sure it kept on track. Fr. Metzger did a great job getting the project in a good position to launch a campaign and start building. We hit a small bump in the road with the pandemic but this parish has been very generous in coming forward to raise the monies we need for our project. I always try to keep everyone informed about the project and since we divided the project into 3 phases we could proceed with phase 1 with the Diocese regulations being followed. The Diocese requires: “Half the money in cash and the rest in pledges.” We have done that with phase 1 and I have faith that possibly this year we can proceed with phase 3. If you have not made a pledge your gift can make this a reality. I would like to thank Corna-Kokosing, Jim Valentas Senior Project Manager the Construction Company, and Scott Harper as the architect for keeping things moving along despite everything going on in our world. Many thanks to our parish building committee with so many great minds we will have great facilities. God Bless you and our parish, Fr Dwayne.
The Great Return Public Sunday Masses The dispensation from the Sunday Mass obligation has been extended indefinitely. This is in keeping with the rest of the Ohio Catholic Conference and should be communicated to your parishioners. Those who are feeling well and who are not in the high-risk categories should be encouraged to come to Mass. Those who are in the high-risk categories, or who are not feeling well are encouraged to remain home. This encouragement is meant to help people who are unsure or uncertain about coming to Mass during this time. While we encourage parishioners to come to Mass during the time of dispensation, we should continue to implement the normal healthcare guidelines such as maintaining social distancing by marking off pews, wearing facemasks, sanitizing pews, and making hand sanitizer available.
Ss Simon and Jude parish will be SAFE, SENSIBLE & SECURE Safe - surfaces sanitized, we will be using a fogging machine that uses medical sanitizer not harmful to humans as they can go into a room a few minutes after using the fogger. Sensible - we understand how to be safe and keep you safe, as we have trained and listened to those in authority. Secure - we will stay in designated areas and follow the signs and guidelines as we are in this together led by the Holy Spirit General Guidelines for the Faithful

“7 ways to manage COVID Stress Syndrome”
(You may know him from St. Gabriel Catholic Radio AM820, he and his wife, Lisa, have a radio program called More2Life and it’s on at 10:00 a.m. weekly, they are from Steubenville and he is a Psychologist.) He mentions that Psychologists have coined the term “COVID Stress Syndrome” to describe the pandemic’s impact on emotional help and he lists 7 ways to manage “COVID Stress Syndrome”: (Deacon Joe would like to mention them because he thinks we have all be affected by COVID-19.)
Limit Social Media/News exposure. Stay informed but be selective. Check credible sources once/twice per day. In social media, pay attention to immediate family posts – also be a positive voice in your own social media posting.
This is a stressful time and with God’s grace and a little support from the people, we love we can get through this together.
